These forward-thinking firms have placed their trust in SkillBurst to create community, curate insights, and develop best-in-class training to ensure the safe, secure, responsible, and ethical use of generative AI in practice.
[Bethesda, Maryland, October 3, 2023] – SkillBurst Interactive, the leading on-demand learning partner for law firms and their corporate clients since 2013, announces a first-of-its-kind consortium of prominent law firms from around the world to build a robust on-demand training series covering generative AI specifically for firm lawyers and other professionals.
Leveraging nearly 10,000 separate data points collected from confidential surveys and a wealth of insights from 80+ executives and lawyers across these firms, SkillBurst is developing and delivering Generative AI Fundamentals for Law Firms. The new on-demand and interactive series will address the pressing need for fundamental training around generative AI related privacy and security concerns, implications of data bias, ethical considerations, liability and accountability, and the essential skills for collaborative interdisciplinary work with data scientists and IT professionals.
This announcement follows the June 2023 launch of SkillBurst’s Legal Innovation Lab, where the company received an overwhelming call from law firms for vendor-independent training on the fundamentals of generative AI in legal practice. Appreciating that this content must be developed with law firms, for law firms, SkillBurst quietly socialized a program model that leverages cross-border knowledge sharing to crowdsource insights that shape the development of trusted learning content contextualized for law firms. The consortium includes these impressive firms:
- Eversheds Sutherland
- Hogan Lovells
- Norton Rose Fulbright
- Perkins Coie
- Taft
- Thompson Coburn
- Womble Bond Dickinson
“SkillBurst Interactive has always championed bringing firms together to identify industry-wide training requirements and associated solutions. I feel privileged that SkillBurst can serve as the conduit for this cohort of forward-thinking firms and help equip their lawyers with the knowledge and skills necessary to leverage AI effectively while upholding the highest standards of professional ethics and accuracy,” said Steve Gluckman, CEO of SkillBurst Interactive. “In our conversations, we heard repeatedly that tool and vendor agnostic learning content is critical so that lawyers understand and can apply the underlying concepts as the tools evolve. We are thrilled that these esteemed law firms have placed their trust in us as a neutral partner to help them address the learning challenges and opportunities presented by generative AI.”
Consortium member firms will continue to influence training topics, content, messaging, and priorities, and are taking full advantage of formal and informal feedback mechanisms. Within each firm, individuals across practice groups and departments – including innovation, service excellence, professional development, talent, strategy, risk, IT, compliance, legal technology, and client care – are actively engaged.
Based on the combined input from consortium member firms, the first two modules created as part of this new series include “Generative AI: Facts and Foundations” and “Generative AI Security: An Overview of Risks and Solutions.” Two additional modules will be released each month to participating firms going forward. SkillBurst will open subscription access to other law firms beginning today, details can be found at https://www.skillburst.com/genai
“A powerful byproduct is that the outputs of this consortium will ultimately help the broader global legal community, and their clients,” said Anusia Gillespie, head of SkillBurst’s Legal Innovation Lab. “Every lawyer and business professional needs training on generative AI, but it is so new that high-quality and contextualized training is not yet widely available. These firms are investing in and creating on-demand learning content that scales and will benefit the profession at large.”
At the helm of content for this series is SkillBurst’s accredited legal technologist, Sam Moore, in collaboration with newly-hired Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School Executive Education trained and experienced case writer, Lisa Brem – an expert in learning content for lawyers.
